Te Kura o Waitati – Waitati School is a special little place – a real country school, but 15 minutes from the city! We welcome visits and appreciate that choosing a school is not always a ‘one stop shop’. Please do peruse the pages of our website to get a feel for the place. You might also like to check out our Facebook Page. Please don’t hesitate to telephone the office if you’d like to come and have a look around.

The Education Review Office visited us in June 2014. We were excited to welcome to team here and share with them the work we have been engaged in since they last visited in 2011. Sarah and I had been at the school about 6 months at the time of our last visit, Naomi had not yet started. We felt that much had changed and we looked forward to getting some feedback from an external source.

We are absolutely delighted to now be able to share with you the confirmed findings of the ERO team. The full report is available below, but I have copied the conclusion here. The best news is that we have joined the 10-20% of NZ schools on the 4-5 year cycle (as opposed to 1,2 or 3 year cycles). This means that the review team saw what we hoped they would, excellence in teaching, learning and governance.

Adults and students have developed a welcoming, inclusive culture in which difference is celebrated. Māori concepts/values are strongly evident in the life of the school. Students participate in a wide variety of learning experiences. All students benefit from very good quality teaching. They are encouraged to be confident, competent communicators. The board and principal govern and lead the school effectively. ERO is likely to carry out the next review in four-to-five years.

The Blueskin Playcentre is a fantastic, purpose built, early childhood centre and you can find them on site! We run a transition programme for four year olds to ensure the best possible start to school.

School Driveway:

To ensure children’s safety, no cars are to be driven on school grounds between 8:30am and 3:30pm. Classes often use this area for fitness training and phys-ed.

Please remember that the school is a dog-free zone. Please do not bring dogs onto the school property.
